During her deployment to Iraq, she ran a team responsible for gathering and analyzing intelligence on some of the most notorious terrorists in Iraq. She was responsible for intelligence gathering, intelligence planning and operational support for Army operations being conducted in Northern Iraq.

Joseph served as a logistics officer in the US Army, also serving overseas and abroad in multiple positions. In the beginning of his career, he was selected to participate in a junior officer advancement internship at the Pentagon working for the Army G4.
As a Captain in the army he requested to serve with a field artillery battalion in the 1st Cavalry Division during the unit's deployment to Iraq.
During his deployment he gained extensive knowledge and experience serving as a project liaison between Iraqi civilian outfits and the US Army, as well as a battle captain where he was responsible for operational control of a task force element while on patrol and operations in Iraq.
